Asteroids: Right-Wing Edition
An animation inspired by documentary 'The Brink,' which follows Steve Bannon (ex-Breitbart chairman & ex-Trump strategist) and his efforts to mobilize and unify far-right politicians in Europe before the 2019 Parliamentary elections. The result: a "Who's Who" of some of the most prominent right-wing politicians in Europe at this time. Although we tend to idolize or demonize individual politicians, behind each one are a thousand more. The battles are against politicians but the war is against their ideologies. Note: this project is not meant to portray or condone violence in any way.
This animation is in the style of the classic arcade game Asteroids, and it's part of a series of projects that mesh old-school classic video games with politics. This particular project is based on the idea that although we tend to idolize or demonize individual politicians, behind each one are a thousand more. The battles are against politicians but the war is against their ideologies. While I strongly disagree with these particular politicians' beliefs and practices, the project is not meant to portray or condone violence in any way.
Pictured: Donald Trump (USA), Steve Bannon (USA), Stephen Miller (USA), Jean-Marie Le Pen (France, National Rally), Matteo Salvini (Italy, The League), Nigel Farage (UK, Brexit), Gerard Batten (UK, UK Independence Party), Marine Le Pen (France, National Rally), Nicolas Bay (France, National Rally), Geert Wilders (Netherlands, Party for Freedom), Tomio Okamura (Czech Republic, Freedom and Direct Democracy Party), Anders Vistisen (Denmark, Danish People's Party), Jorg Meuthen (Germany, AfD), Olli Kotro (Finland, Finns Party), Alexander Gauland (Germany, Alternative for Germany), Frauke Petry (Germany, AfD), Jussi Halla-aho (Finland, Finns Party), Viktor Orban (Hungary, Fidesz), Jaroslaw Kaczynski (Poland, Law and Justice Party), Heinz-Christian Strache (Austria, Freedom Party), Janez Jansa (Slovenia, Slovenian Democratic Party), Harald Vilimsky (Austria, Freedom Party), Santiago Abascal (Spain, Vox), Mischael Mondrikamen (Belgium, People's Party), Jimmie Akesson (Sweden, Sweden Democrats)
