REEDCOB Winter & Summer School
The REEDCOB® Winter/Summer School is an online and onsite workshop funded by CAS Studio and held together with several international partners.
Participants receive a theoretical but mostly practical hands-on experience with sustainable architecture building techniques. Participants become a part of a living community of architects, engineers, designers and artists impacting the environment and society in a positive way.
The REEDCOB School participants can now be involved in 3 moments of the year: in February in Oman, online in July and in Egypt in September.
REEDCOB Technology: This building technology utilizes earth and reed canes to serve as an ecological alternative to constructions in seismic regions.

The Story of REEDCOB
The REEDCOB technology started in 2013, with a partnership established between CAS Studio and Eng. Fernando Cartaxo, to develop a sustainable building technology made with earth and reeds. In 2014 FCT/NOVA of Lisbon joined the partnership.
In 2018 the first REEDCOB Summer School was held in Portugal and, since 2021, is being held online and in Egypt with their partners EZBET Project, BENAA Foundation, Kairos City Lab and ASU Cairo.
In 5 years, the event had more than 150 participants from 15 countries and international universities such as Stuttgart University, Louvain University, FCT Nova and ASU Cairo. The REEDCOB community is constantly growing; the German Technical University in Oman, the Oman Think Urban and The Earthen Building Initiative are now partners.

Design Concepts
REEDCOB's vision for the logo: minimal, contemporary, non-literal; futuristic yet simple; geometric renderings of reeds and structures as seen below, inspired by a combination of Japanese Hanko ink stamps and Bauhaus and Constructivist-inspired designs.
